Hi Bill - This is Rob, owner of the green subie turbo. Its been probably a year since I last visited this site - I hope to be more of a regular to these forums. Also - I should be back at Carlisle this year. Would have been back last year but my 356 wasn't complete from the various planned upgrades (as you have found from Speed Industry's web site). The car has actually been repainted on top of the performance upgrades (I took the plunge since I needed to fill in the body cut outs from the original tailpipes). Lots of changes since Carlisle 2007. As for power - its currently putting out 252 rear wheel hp (maybe a bit more by Carlisle if I get the chance to bring it back to the speed shop for a couple of needed boost leak fixes). For reference, rear wheel hp was 150 at Carlisle 2007. If anyone is in the Detroit area, the green turbo will be at the Detroit Autorama at Cobo Arena March 6-8th (the hot rod shop who did the body work/paint will be showing it within their exhibit).
Yeah, that power to weight ratio should cause periodic heart failure of passengers.

What Cory was alluding to about Chris was Chris' now gone Mitsu Eclipse. It had a 2.4 litre inline that was putting 680hp to the wheels and he ran it at the drags in the same class as Vipers and Z06 Vettes and STILL took them by 3-5 lengths in the quarter.

It was more than interesting driving it around town, too. Absolutely docile until you got your foot in it and then - WHOA! The power just never stopped!

Reservations at Hotel Carlisle have been made. I look forward to seeing a great collection of 356s and spyders again! I remember two years back when Chris Nichols described his outragous eclipse. That's were I got the idea to start searching out speedshops to get the power just right in my 356. Looks like most of my pics are too large - I'll search out some software to get them reduced.

In the interim, I'll try to attach a before pic of the rear. Originally I had two nerf bars and essentially a cherry bomb muffler w/ two chrome exhausts tips exiting from a couple of cuts outs at the lower rear rim of the body. I now have a stainless steel custom made exhaust set up attached to a magniflow muffler. The exhaust exits just behind each rear tire (to the side vs. the back). I had the whole exhaust assembly powder coated black to better blend / hide. The nerf bars are now gone along w/ half a dozen body cut outs for a smoother rear appearance (assuming I don't cut off Dan & Jen in their spyder again - I've learned to be much more careful dealing w/ those blind spots when the top's up). Hopefully I'll be able to get the updated pics worked out soon.

I was able to reduce the size of all my pics, but still having trouble getting them all uploaded. Here are a couple that I was able to get thru.....
#1 the new exhaust next to the old exhaust
#2 pic from under the car w/ the new exhaust installed, but prior to the powder coating and body work
#3 the updated rear end (new exhaust powder coated black, body work - cut outs filled in, removal of nerf bars and new paint)

Paul - the black powder coating they used on my exhaust system is similar to what's used on grills. the reason I went w/ powder coating vs. ceramic is that they could coat the inside of the pipes as well (which helped the black out effect at the tips that I was looking for). The edge that ceramic has over powder coating is that the ceramic will act as a insolator and probably would have saved me a few degrees in the drive train compartment. But since I lost the cats, the heat has already dropped significantly and I have booster fans (two on the radiator - push & pull) and one on the upgraded intercooler that was installed.

Greg - the "turbo" script is a geniune porsche part, purchased thru Pelican Parts. After shipping its in the $30 range.

a couple more pics -

#1 body w/ paint stripped off and some prelim body work (I was questioning my sanity at this point, especially after waiting for almost 3 years for the car the first time and then to see it take so many steps backwards....)

#2 the result.... (I was feeling a bit better now, although light in the pocket book)

#3 a shot of the interior w/ the screen showing

(not sure why my pics have been coming up a bit blurred - they started out as high res...but are losing detail in the upload)
