Ernie, If you don't mind my asking, what did you order to replace it? I am thinking of upgrading.

I've ordered a new motor so I'm offering this complete Mexi-crate VW T1 featuring the standard VS upgrades plus an added full flow oil pump, compufire ignition module and bugpack extractor with tuck away quiet pack muffler.
Starter, flywheel, altenator and tin, all with 5834 miles since brand new.
Motor still in car for now: can be heard and driven (Sacramento area).
$2000

Hey Tom!
CB Performance is building me one of their standard 2110s.

Too bad I'm a bit far away, if not I would be pretty interested...
Hey folks,
Make me an offer I can't refuse! My new motor is, as of now, about 3 weeks from delivery! I've had some off-line responses from far away and one local craig's-list-flake, but nothing serious.

Ernie; why don't you advertise it in The Samba classifieds? I bet you'll find many interested parties real quick.
Just a kick to keep this add alive. I've had several responses so I'm confident my motor will find a new home one of these weeks.
I did find a link that seems to show the origin of these engines. The "larger photo" button shows factory case markings just like mine.....

That's exactly what they are Ernie; VW of Mexico. Whenever you request a larger displacement Kirk's engine builder just takes apart that factory longblock, bores it out along with the heads and puts it back together installing larger pistons and cylinders. I think it's a good foundation; at least you're getting OEM parts.
Hey Ricardo,
The thing that amazes me about this motor is that it has never leaked a drop of oil! I got my 1st bug in '68 and drove them on and off ever since, but never have I had a non-leaker. That goes for my Harleys as well. I just thought that if it's air cooled, it's gonna leak.
Maybe I'll get lucky on the new one!
Cheers!

Actually mine does leak a little but to me that's expected. It's weird that you got a non-leaker....
