Gents...perhaps you can offer some thoughts here...

Here is what I am trying to duplicate...I currently have the standard Beck turn signal stalk, which I don't like.

This car appears to have a plastic collar which has cut-outs for the later type VW indicator stalk.

Do you know of any sources for the tubing which I could modify to incorporate the signal stalk cut-outs ?

I realize that I will have to use parts from a later VW hub ring to mount the stalk etc..

It seems that the IM replica D mentioned today has the same deal...I have a 68 shaft going to the steering box and I don't want to change that...but simply modify the steering wheel end. All the super beetle hub rings I have seen have the ignition interlock set-up...I don't want that...

The enclosed picture is what I am looking for...

Could this be as simple as getting a pre-1965 VW steering column?  That should not have the key on the column but you'll probably have to do some messing with the wheel end to accept whatever controls you wish to use (and you may give up the headlight change/flash on the directional lever).

Or you could just use the earlier column (pre-1960) with the early VW directional lever - I like the look of those, but they're getting hard to find.
