Turn signal probelm

I know, I know, it's not about a speedster but I have a problem with one of the turn signals on the bike I'm doing. I replaced the original ones with new ones. One side blinks and the other side just lights up and stays on. no blinky. Relay?

The capability of the mechanic, or lack there of, should go without saying. I think that's been made clear over the years of my "hey can anyone help me fix this thing I tried to fix" posts :)

That usually the symptom of a dead bulb. The side that doesn't blink has a burned out bulb or a bulb that doesn't have enough ooomph(wrong size) to make the blinker cycle.

Also check the grounds on that non blinking side.

Might be too much wave modulation going on! 8-)

had the same issue on one of my bikes. the solution was to manually keep switching the turn signal switch several times until it started blinking by itself. finally replaced the switch internals and problem went away.

Rechecked the grounds and they were good. Ended up just putting a new signal onit (had one laying around) and that fixed it. Of course as I was checking the rear tail light / brake light I accidentally hit the start button and the headlight went out. Worse, it didnt even try to fire.
I've got this thing pretty much done except waiting on a new pet cock valve (easy Vince). This wiring thing is pissing me off. I want to get this one done so I can start on mine!!

I ripped this bike apart again and checked every wire nut and bolt and I can't figure it out. I bought a new battery, charged it up and still the same issue with the start button - turn the key, the lights come on, push the start button and nothing AND the headlight goes out. If I turn the ignition off and let it sit for a few minutes the headlight comes on again when I turn the key. WTF???? Anyone help me out with this I appreciate it. I know it's not speedster related but I'm desperate. Thanks again.

Probably a short when you push the start button. Trips the breaker which resets itself after you turn it off. That's why the lights come on after a while. Maybe check the starter motor for a short?
