turn signal problem

Just finished up a JPS wire harness and have run into a weird problem.
When I turn on the turn signal with ignition key in the engine on position the flasher flashes at a slow normal pace but with the engine turned on the flasher flashes at a faster pace, like there is a ground problem somewhere but where???
Any ideas I thank you in advance.
Turn signal is off a 66 bug if that is any help..

I have a new flasher works fine again with engine off. I have checked all the sockets also..If you have a bad ground it would cause the flasher to flash quickly but it only flashs quickly when the engine is operating?? Is it possible the operating alternator is causing a ground problem?

Well thats another story...I am waiting for a wiring diagram from JPS for the exact setup for the type instuments I have..912 guages..the tach has two turn signal indicators on the top which I had to use a modified diagram so I am not exactly sure of the wire hookups, but all the lights and guages seem to work properly the way I have hooked them up.

Can you check voltage at the flasher in both situtations? In one case it is battery voltage dropped down by whatever is in the path to the flasher and in the other it is a higher voltage coming out of the alternator/regulator.

Try and check the voltage along the path and see where it drops.
