Type 4 and Exhaust Options

Anyone out there with a Type 4 engine and an A-1 exhaust out there?
How about a Type 4 and some other form of exhaust? I'm trying to solve the exhaust option dilemma for this type engine. I know there's not too many choices. Anyone have any thoughts? Opinions appreciated. Thanks.

yes, i have a T4 and an A1 sidewinder

it was $$$ and when i bought it, the only game in town.

now, tri-mill offers a nice looking T4 header with a semi-merdged collector. The A1 is (IMO) a better product, but this is ~1/2 the cost.

Thanks for the notes, guys. My buyer of the 1911cc engine is having a hard time coming to grips with the exhaust dilemma. I'm trying to give him as many options as possible. As you may recall, I had a Tangerine header on the 1911cc engine but am keeping it for my new 2666cc application. From everything I read, Tiger's solution is the way to go.

@Mango. Can you tell me if your A-1 system is of the type that does not require muffler removal to adjust the valves? I understand from Jack that his does not require that to be done.

i bought the header and stub pipes only. i then bought my magnaflow locally and fabbed up the rest. it's a squeeze (my rear end is narrowed 3" and i run 185's), but with the muffler on - i can adjust my valves.

Vintage Speed makes a t4 exhaust.

Rich- What's the matter with your Tangerine Racing header? It's a true tri-y connecting cylinders on the opposite side of the engine. I'm not sure you can or will ever do better.

Stan, In second post on this thread, he said he's keeping the Tangerine exhaust and will mount it on his new engine. He's doing research for the buyer of his original Type IV engine.

That's correct Stan and Larry. The whole purpose of this thread is to give my engine buyer legitimate info on "the right" exhaust to buy. Yes, my 1-5/8" Tangerine header is staying on the 2666cc.

Yeah. So, there's an option: Tangerine Racing.

Stan, he's ruled that option out based on cost.

A-1 --the one that doesn't require removal to adjust the valves.

Jack, it sounds like Doc has seen the light and is planning on taking the plunge with an A-1 according to his last e-mail.

I have a used system just like what Jack Crosby originally had.. Stainless muffler with head pipes for 375.00 plus shipping.. It's left over from a dyno comparison I did last year.
