What exhaust is everyone using for type 4 engines in their Beck Spyder?

Years ago, RDrewek put Tangerine Racing on his Beck Speedster with twin plug Raby T4. It is $$$. Not sure if it was custom made by them - as all on site are for 914s.
It's a Spyder, not a Speedster.
That is a tuff one. I ran a Carey Hunt 6 into one header on my racing 914 some 20 years ago and it was very good and sounded amazing. You should look into the Porsche 914 suppliers because the engine is mid mounted as in the Spyder. Once you have the header you will need to have the rest (mufflers and outlet pipe) custom made to your liking I imagine, good luck and let us know how it goes.
Lenny C had a Tangerine type4 exhaust custom made by them in Connecticut for his Vintage Spyder. It was ceramic-coated back then and still looks great even today.
This was back around 2001 or 2002, that's all the information I have.
Vintage Motorcars has one listed in their parts store.
Thanks Ll Rick. Yeah I’ve seen the vintage one. I figured there’s a lot of type 4 Becks out there. Was hoping for a couple options. Can anyone confirm the vintage exhaust fits on the Beck?
thanks,
Jeff
We don't do enough type 4's that I've ever bothered making my own exhaust, i just use Greg's.
Hey guys I just purchased Greg’s vintage type 4 exhaust and I can’t get it to fit. Hits the brake line tabs. Does anyone have any pics on how this mounts up? Did you have to cut off the brake line tabs and repels them somewhere else?
thanks
Jeff
Pictures of what you're dealing with, please?
Yes, if you have the old style brake line tabs on the 1x2 rectangle tube they have to be moved outboard to use any 4:2:1 exhaust. Newer builds have them moved outboard already.
Thanks Carey. How did everyone mount their bracket? My studs are too short on the nose cone?
thanks Jeff
The outer 2 are bolts and you can just change them to longer bolts
Carey,
none of the 4 are bolts all studs. Also, the bracket on the right side is in way as well. If you were to go to the outside of the bracket the mufflers won’t clear the rear square tube support, Any suggestions? Thanks Jeff
They are threaded in studs and can be changed to longer studs or to bolts. You may have to double nut them to get them out.
On the old clutch bell crank bracket, looking at the photos I'd probably trim the bracket on the muffler to fit around the clutch bracket, unless you planned to switch to hydraulic ever. That muffler bracket was a more recent change and apparently a cable clutch was not a consideration when they made the change since everyone is hydraulic as a standard now. (it's not a change we made with the manufacturer) If you look at CB's website, part number 3549, you'll see the original hangers which may give you an idea of how to get around what you have now.
