A group of us from Pennsylvania will be attending the Vintage Grand Prix at Watkins Glen, N.Y. Sept. 6-8. Anyone else?

The Mini will be the featured Marque this year. Looking forward to a couple of laps around the original road course, and show in town.

I'll be skipping the Seaplane Festival in Greenville, Maine this year, after attending for the last ten years or so.

My wife and I will be there.  I've been going for a number of years, starting back when I had a number of British sports cars.

Regardless, though, of what car I am driving, I try to never miss the Vintage Festival on Friday.  To me, that's the highlight of the weekend - a downtown filled with visitors and locals, all having a grand time being transported back to the 1950's.

This year, I've entered the car show, as I've always wanted a lap around the Glen.

I have Ontario plates on my car.

Maggie & I just returned from Watkins Glen weekend. Great weather, however went down to 36 yesterday morning, rebounded to mid seventies however. The 912 ran flawlessly and put on close to 600 miles roundtrip. We caravanned with a group of friends driving a Porsche 911, a Volvo P1800, Cobra replica, New Mini, Ferrari 355 Spyder, Alfa Romeo Duetto. We signed up for the Red Newt Winery tour, they had a lite breakfast for us a bottle of their wine with a special label and an 85 mile tour of the roads around Seneca Lake, a stop with a provided box lunch (very good) then two laps of the original race course and parking in town on the closed main street. Saw many beautiful and rare cars including a real D Type Jaguar complete with the driver in period racing garb emulating Peter Collins even wearing a Bow Tie ! When was the last time you saw a pristine Jowett Jupiter ? If ever. An Aston Martin DB-5 Shooting Brake (Station Wagon) MB 300SL Gull Wing and many, others  in short complete sensory overload for a car guy. Tomorrow, a Porsche Concours at the AACA museum, I won't enter however the 912 is too dirty and not enough time to clean it up before morning. Then next week Alan and Connie's Speedster Palooza, great way to wrap up the car season here in the Northeast. Still a few events prior to putting them away for the winter. Can't wait for Amelia Island, Carlisle, Hershey Porsche Swap meet etc. etc. next year.

Yes.  It was a dark green, but with very tiny metallic flakes in it, so from a distance it looked solid green.  Apart from the paint - and with the sound and all the fantastic details - it was a very detailed Jaguar replica.

I got a close up look at it a couple of times, and it would fool most people.  I still can't figure why he went with metallic paint in BRG.

There are a couple of companies in England that make these cars, and I would have one, except they aren't too cheap.

Cheers.
