Hi all,

First a question - who made the Speedster bodies for Porsche? My research has recently pointed me to Beutler, but previously I thought it was Reuter or Drauz (sorry if spelt wrong!). Does anyone have any further info on these?

My reason for asking, is I want to make sure I get the correct coachbuilder badge for my project Chesil speedster.....

Which brings me to my next question -

Does anyone know where I can buy original (or at least very good copies) Porsche scripts for the front & rear, a Porsche script for the dash and a Porsche hood badge? UK suppliers preferably and not someone who want to charge

Porsche dealers stock or can order new OEM Speedster scripts for you, that way you are assured of great quality, though you pay for it, too. I know JPS Motorsports in the States sells OEM script, the ones I bought from John came in Porsche packaging, John's pricing was very reasonable.
Mark,

There's a company in Coalville, Leicester that produces badges (Atlantis Trading Co.), this may be who Erik's refering to. Tel: +44 1530 830840
Their prices are good, so is quality.

Reutter coachbuilder badges are the most common, but other Porsche coachbuilders include; Glaser, Karmann, Drauz and D'Ieteren. Not sure exactly who worked on what models, but someone should be able to clear it up.

All,

Cheers for the tips. I have sent Atlantis an e-mail to see if they can help with the badges. Also the Tweeks site looks good, I've "favourited" them, cheers a lot.

JPS also have some interesting parts - I was on their site over the weekend. I particularly like the wing mounted mirrors, although I'm not sure how authentic they are as I can't find any original Porsche pics with them!!

Coachbuilers - I've continued my search for info on who built the bodies for the 356 Speedster and the best I've found is this:

"Introduced in September 1954........ Beutler was reponsible for constructing the Speedster's stunning bodywork" - Source - Original 356 by Meredith.

He doesn't mention Reutter anywhere in the Speedster bit.... does anyone know anything else on this??????

Cheers!

Mark
When I was looking to replace my faded scripts, etc., just for kicks I called the parts department of my local Porsche dealer. He had everything in stock. I went with John Steele (JPS Motorsports) because he is a member of the family. I would never buy anything from Tweeks.

Support the people that earn their living building our cars. Plus if you buy parts from them it seems fair to telephone them with an ocassional question. Tweeks won't/isn't able to provide support.
