got all the sheet metal (tin) powder coated….36 HP Dog shroud done in Porsche Super 90 light grey, the rest in mildly glossy(60%) black.  I also got Gene Berg linkage and powder coated the support bar the same Lt Gray as above. new 30 mm oil pump and Gene Berg pressure relief external filter/cooler cast iron cover.  Case is tapped and ready for return line. Will mount oil filter under left rear quarter panel. My spanish Weber 44's are all rebuilt and waiting patiently for me to install them. The tin is on and it's really looking like a motor now. Purrdy !!!!! I'm still not sure about which header/muffler I will use.   Any suggestions on this would be appreciated.

This is going into an Intermeccanica Roadster "D".

So- went back and your engine is 2016 (78.3x90.5)cc's, Engle W125 cam with 42x37mm heads. Do you know if it has 1.1 or 1.25 rockers? It's going to be a beast! With those heads, this thing has the potential to rev well past 6500 with power and still have really decent bottom end/midrange, being a 2 liter (and the reason, when anyone asks about what they should build, those with experience say bigger is always better! ). 1 5/8" primary tubing will allow it to go to 7,000rpm (or a little over), so is the correct size.

The reason I asked about the rockers- if the engine has stock 1.1's, then there won't be nearly enough lift for the combo to be reaching it's potential; with such large valve sizes, the extra lift from the 1.25 rockers would add a fair bit (8?10? hp, 200 or so more rpm before redline and the bottom end/midrange will still be just as solid!).

Most 1.25 rockers are made from stock forgings, so the way to tell the 1.1's from the 1.25 is to look at the pushrod cup drilling- if it's centered, 1.1, if it's offset toward the shaft it's 1.25. If the rockers are the pad type with the adjuster on the bottom, they usually spec out to 1.3 or 1.33, and for this combo will be even better!

My Yoda thing for now, this is...Al

PS- What did you finally settle on for compression ratio?

Thank you for your extra effort on this….researching my past motor post….

This motor was built by Small Car Specialists in Anaheim California in 1989, with all the current (1989) goodies, but meant to also last more then 40K…It does have 1:25 lifters (blue anodized shafts and all, on Small Car Spec's after market heads.Exhaust ports are 1 3/8" diameter. I am not going for a screamer, but a nice driver without a "hey everyone, look at me" loud exhaust system. I am leaning towards Vintage speeds 'stock look' duel outlet setup…fits under the rear bumper nicely. (I also sort of like their 'stock look' shifter.

Again, my intention is pleasant drivability, not ears pinned back, **** eating grin rocketry…I have a '75 Targa that I put an '87 3.2 Carrera motor into (no easy feat, with all the wire harness and computer and fuel lines and fuel pump relocation etc etc) to satisfy the 'need for speed' !!!!!
