Hi all,
I have been off the Forum for a few weeks traveling both overseas and locally.
Over the weekend I went to check progress out on my Speedsters rebuild.
As I think I have mentioned, the engine has had tons of Scat bits added and the block is now 2200cc approx.
After the full rebuild from the 1600cc, I had a very short drive around the factory area - parts are still out of the interior, as it was being stripped for painting.
Gee, it was certainly a stronger and high revving engine. Being new I took it cautiously, but it was enough for me to get the feeling..
My son and I looked at dozens of red colours for the body, including two or three cars at Cars and Coffee in Irvine California in May.
The decision has been made for a colour mid way between Ruby and Guards red.
It is a Mercedes red, called 'Jupiter red' and is the basic red on all new Mercedes cars and is similiar to the Honda Civic red recently released here. A darker red that looks deeper and more classic.
When the paint is done, over the next few weeks - you cannot hurry these guys - I will have it back for a few weeks before it goes to the trimmer.
Then we are trimming it in black leather with a natural stitching. Red piping on the seats. Mercedes black clothe roof with black stitching.
Whoaa, its a big change from the cream and brown we first decided on - we went to red as there two cream Speedsters already in the area.
So we are getting excited as there are a few months off the warmer weathercoming up...
Will keep you 'Posted' with some new photos once its painted. I may even be tempted to drive the Speedster around for a few months before it goes to the trim shop.....
Talk soon. Stay safe.
Bernie
