Jeff, I'm still in the build process. So far Steve has been great to work with and I am a real pain in the butt!!!! I have sent him over 150 emails on different things and he is very responsive about answering even the dumbest of my questions and changes.

If you look under the manufacturers ratings average it gives an artificially low number because I have filled out the registry for my new car, but have all 0's because the car isn't done yet.
Guys, thanks for the updates.

John I was wondering, seeing as how you owned a VW powered ride, if you could comment on all the improvements on Steve's website, that he says are present over the VW based cars. It sounds like a dramatic improvement. Would you say your car is a generation or two ahead of the legacy VW based product?

Also wondering how close to a reliable daily driver it is. Can you literally hop in it without a second thought and use it every day, or does it require some weekend time on a regular basis?

-Jeff

PS - Steve I think you mentioned you're intending to use yours as a fairly regular every day car, is this correct?
John: i think we traded some e-mails last year. I thought you had a Intermecannica speedster or roadster...did you sell, keep it, or did I misunderstand you and it was a Vintage Speedster? I knew you mentioned having one of the Subtubs built. Any way have a beck Speedster for sale and am consdering something different, maybe a IM roadster.
Jeff, at the risk of possibly offending the other members of the board, most of whom have more traditional cars, I would hesitate to answer your question. Let me say that from my perspective I have found a car that better suits my needs than the VS Speedster did. It is nothing short of delightful to drive. Don't misunderstand me, I loved my speedy too. You will have to evaluate the Subytub based upon your own needs and give weight to the features this design offers.

As far as the car being a daily driver, I would have to say it can be, keeping in mind the limited space if you are looking to put lots of "stuff" in it (eg. heavy duty grocery shopping or kids or big dogs). I wouldn't take the car out if there was snow and salt on the roads, but that doesn't happen much here. Also I just don't want to expose the car to that. Other than that, it has A/C that works well (the same unit builder Steve uses in his street rods) and has plenty of heat when it's cold.

I'll test the reliability on the way to Knotts. Hope this helps.

Robert, no I have never owned an IM. Nice cars though. There is a board member in Peachtree City, I think that's the place, who has an IM. This is the first one I had seen; The owner had dropped it off at SAW to have some work done to it, and after having seen it, I decided on my color for the Subytub.

Oh, BTW Jeff, there is another SAW car owner on the site who purchased a pan-based car used and claimed he was very happy with it.
The guy that bought the silver Cabriolet on the SAW website is not a Speedsterowners member. Not his thing, I guess.
Originally the plan was to put them up, but Steve is very busy right now and I told him it was ok if he didn't have time. So I guess we may seem them in the future, but right now my car is a pile of parts and the body is at the fiberglass modification shop. Usually he starts taking pictures after this stage??
