Very nice, Benoit. Do you know the pressure rating on that strut ? What are the open and closed dimensions. Do you know of such a strut with about a 10 or 15 lb rating ? thanks...
Oui c'est très jolie et brillant...
FYI.... If your interested in one of those David, I believe you could get one from IM since you own an IM. I had one strut on my old IM and when it became deffective it cost me like $20 for a new one if I remember right.(black in colour) I also have that on my new IM. Just saying.
Est-ce que vous avez placé quelque chose pour empêcher le boulon d’endommager tel qu’une plaque de métal? Les choses construites de fibre de verre sont plutôt sujettes à être endommagées à la longue.
Did you place a protective metal plate to protect the fibreglass from wearing out in the long run.
Très bien fait, Benoit. On dirait un bon projet d'hiver!

I applied an Araldite® resin on the screw thread, this resin is used for aerospace so I think it will be OK in a long run.

No, Ray....nothing stock from IM ( likely ) applies to my needs. Mine is a custom application so what I asked for above is what is needed. I'm looking for a low pressure strut for my engine lid, hence my direct questions in the first place. Length, pressure and geometry makes my needs somewhat unique.
Like that stripper in Montreal said to my Brother Doug about me many years ago....ton chum est pas normal eh ?
Well I guess I missed that.... I just did a quick look and this site might help you.

Here's the write-up I did when I added stunts to my frunk:

This GREAT!! This means that whenever I stuck in rain, the water won't trickle down the support arm in my Beck and into the passenger compartment...onto my right foot. I'm going to get one for my frunk also. Thanks a bunch.
Yes, these are great for holding the frunk lid up.
Just be careful on windy days. You don't want the frunk lid to slam down on your fingers, and then have to stand there in agony while you try to get your wife's attention who is in the house eating breakfast and listening to the radio.
Not that it happened to me...

I meant struts. Contrary to what I wrote I have not added any "STUNTS" to my frunk.
I think "stunts" sounds a lot more interesting.

Ok, Bob, that's really funny! I can picture you standing there and waving....
Well, it wasn't funny at the time. I figured I'd never play the guitar again...
Ever try to throw a stone at a window to get someone's attention, using your wrong arm, and facing the wrong way? While all the while your fingers on your other hand are going numb.
Thankfully, it all worked out, or I'd be typing with one hand now, and playing a wind-up guitar.
And so ends, in peaceful and satisfying resolution, another episode of Stunt Frunks.
