Upgrade the VDO dash lights

For those who are tired of the old VDO gauge backlights being too dull check out this link. There are LED replacement bulbs.

Any wiring upgrades needed for a VS to run brighter dash lights?

White,blue,green are $.60 more each - total cost ( $1.49)per
No wiring change required. Just plug them in. Please not that these bulbs are 12v not 6v.

I have posted a couple of times about Vintage wiring. My experience tells me that while you are thinking about doing bulb upgrades wiring and fuses should be on your hit list too!

Troy: Let the group know how those bulbs work. I tried some on another car and found that the area of illumination was so narrow that only a small portion of the guage was be legible.

I have an order in. I have done my homework on these led lights. The led lens design allows the light to be emmited out the sides rather than straight towards the back of the gauge. LEDs will not draw as much as the stock bulbs do. The lighting will be whiter rather than the dull amberish lighting.

Anyone install these bulbs yet? If so, how do they work?

I have two types. One that emits light straight towards the back and one that emits light out the side. The light is whiter light. I had to use the side emitting light on the Tach and speedo the other type on the oil/temp/fuel gauge. I like them. Joe

I did and did not see much difference. Whiter in color but not really brighter. Only tested them in the Garage and may be different on the road. I'll keep you posted.
