Are any of our replicas reinforced with structure above the shortened VW pan and frame?

All of them have some structure. Some more than others, but the vast majority have a very significant "subframe".
Stan,
Thank you for your reply, is there a picture or diagram of said structure?

I did search but found nothing. I'm wondering if structure can be picked up behind the seats and a cross bar spanning behind the seats could be added so one could attach shoulder seatbelts?
Yes - it's about a 2x2" steel piece welded either side. I ran a diagonal steel strap from it to rear to fix/prevent butt sag. Add the stainless steel Miata "roll bar" to it for looks.
not my style, but a horizontal piece of steel tubing wouldn't hurt the rigidity of the structure. just above shoulder height for harness attachment

^ Those are Sypders.
Very cool. Thank you
It's a comparo of the Beck/TR frame(3" ladder) versus the Vintage(smaller tubes but more of them). Definitely Spyders all.
