Has anyone come up with some sort of high level rear turn signals.  I have seen ideas (and my IM has one) for high level brake lights, but am wondering about high level rear turn signals.  In my car, I could put signals in the rear vents, but just wondering if there is any other solution.

The rear lights on our cars are very low, and with idiots in SUVs riding along at ten feet in the air, I don't think they always see my puny little rear signals.

Just wondering.  It would be a good safety feature.

Frank...I like that idea. Could you expound on parts availability, sources, do you need relays etc. ? Thanks...

Bill, I get it and do use my arms when convenient and appropriate for the situation but it's a real bugger to do with the roof up and side curtains in place. I drive in all conditions but snow. Further, my left shoulder is phucked again and some kind of arthritis causes much pain just raising my left arm, having broken that left arm much earlier in life.

David,  I picked up some short diode sets at Autozone.  There were I think 2 sets of four lights each.  I ran wire from them down to the brake light wire on one side and tapped in. Mounted under the grill in the topmost position.  About US $15.00. For blinkers maybe you could just split them on either side of the grill inside, hopefully hidden for the most part, and wire individually to each blinker.  I think that the background of the diodes is black so not that easy to see otherwise.  The ones I found can also be cut at specific places is the chain of lights if you require fewer of them.  Maybe they can be tacked, on edge, to the outermost grill slat on each side because those suckers do get REALLY bright......

Gordon:  Semaphores would probably be one modification too much, but it would be unique.  I remember the old Austins, Renaults, etc. had those also.

Marty:  That's what I have decided to do, after seeing people's ideas.  I'll then get a nice back up light.  I'll be going with a Spyder licence plate light once again.

Ron:  I can always count on you for a sensible suggestion...so much for your test drive.  I think I'll ask our brother Ron instead.

Sure, give the test drive to Ron.  That will make mom happy, because she always liked him best.

One good thing about being sick for a few days, is the chance to look around on the internet for interesting stuff.

I came across this licence plate frame, meant for motorcycles, but which may be okay for a Speedster.  It has a brake light and signal lights incorporated right in.

It's not enough by itself, but does give one more opportunity for the idiot in the SUV behind you to register in his/her brain that you are stopping/turning.
