Upright gas tank | 356 Speedster, 550 Spyder, Replica, Automotive Community

Is it possible to use the older '57 VW era upright gas tanks in a replica speedster. Most I've seen have the flat tank in the middle of the trunk. It seems that if the older tank could be used it would create more space in the trunk. Thank you! Darryll

In a word, no. Hood line is too low and would interfere with the top of the tank. Besides, because of the shape of the area below the trunk "floor", you wouldn't be gaining much, if at all, unless you intruded into the foot area of the cockpit (as the CMC models do a bit).
