VDM steering wheel

Can a VDM steering wheel (original equipment in late '50s speedster) be adapted to fit a VS built on 1966 VW pan? If so, any idea where the adapter can be purchased?

Has anyone ever tried to put a real Porsche Speedster steering wheel on a Vintage Speedster? Help

I tried using a late VW steering wheel on an early VW column --- with no luck. Although the number of splines were the same (40), the diameter of the column changed over the years. My guess is an early VW column might work with a near year Porsche steering wheel. VW 60-70 were 20mm, 71-73 were 21 mm and 74 up were 17mm. Don't know what the 356 was though. The following site lists Grant adapters for 49-59 356 and another for 62-68 Porsches (guess 60-61 are different yet!). Ya might be able to drill/cut and use the Grant adapter.

I understand that early VW columns work with the VDM's; I mean oval windows ('57) and earlier.
