my temp gauge is not accurate at all, CB perf. has a vdo oil temp sending unit that screws into motor somewhere, says it needs just 1 wire. im assuming i would get a vdo oil temp gauge, mount it under dash and run a wire to it.
is this the best solution for oil temp. readout.

Where is your sender now? It needs to be in the flow of oil - not a low spot in the sump. I've read not to use teflon sealing tape too (interrupts the sending unit's ground). You'd need ground wire too off new gauge as well and +/- for illuminating light. Guess you have few choices:

- Dip stick type sender (suspect normally most accurate)
- In line before a thermostat bypass if you have a remote oil cooler
- A brass T fitting where the oil pressure sender is
- In the oil pan sump either a new threaded hole or one replacing the drain plug
Hey bob...
In our climate I think you'll have plenty of trouble keeping a VS 1915 cool without an add-on oil cooler. I know I did. I ordered a Gene Berg GB 227 dipstick temp gage which immediately told me I was WAY TOO hot.

I hate to see you go down the same agonizing road that I did with that motor. Check your Email!
