My wife ordered me a Mahogany shift knob from http://www.mainelycustombydesign.com/ for Christmas and before I installed it I had a feeling she hadn't ordered the one for my EMPI shifter with the reverse lockout.  My suspicions were confirmed when I tried to install the collet.

I emailed Bob Futterrer via the contact page explaining my problem.  I explained what shifter I have and requested the correct part and asked how I should pay for it.  Bob answered my email the very next day and said he was sending the correct collet and nut free of charge.  The part arrived within a couplemdays and I immediately installed it on my shifter.

I just wanted to give Bob Futterrer and his company, Mainely Custom by Design, some well deserved kudos.  It was a pleasure doing business with him.  The shift knob is exquisite and looks very nice.

She also got me another medallion for my engine grill.

If you're not living life on the edge, you're taking up too much space!

Well, THAT sucks!

Bob ran a first-class operation.  We stopped in a couple of years back when vacationing along the Maine coast and he had a very nice operation there.  Not geared to walk-in customers as most of his stuff was bought on-line and his suppliers were scattered about the country but as an aggregator and shipper he had his act together. And his customer support was legendary!

MCBD will be missed........

Gordon, any idea where he got his wheel balancing tool done ? any leads to a replacement ? Where in Maine was Bob located ? Thks..

BTW..we spent four nights in Wells, Maine after Christmas and into the New Year.

Ate lots of labstah and clams. Good weather then too...cool but sunny.

Give Bob a ring or email him.  I spoke to him today and fortunately he still had one of the parts I was looking for so boom!... he is shipping it out to me.

i should have asked him if someone was taking over his business.  Seems like his retirement got many 356registry and othe Porsche aficionados by surprise.  He will be missed.

Also, Les Schuwab have the wheel balancing tool and capability to work on VW/Porsches wide5s.

I just got off the phone with Bob and he's still selling parts. He just received a new batch of 50 wheel balance tools and will put one in the mail for me. Not many vendors like to mail to Canada but he said, "no sweat".

Ironically, we holidayed in Wells, Maine over new Years Eve and were 16 miles away from him just over in Berwick.

A very nice fellow   207-698-7646
