Ventura Show Oct. 3-4

This show at the Ventura Fairgrounds Oct. 3-4 has been a big Porsche show. Last year a new promoter took over, so I dony know if it will be as well attended. Check www.germanautofest.com for details. I will be going Sunday I think.

We went last year and had alot of fun, alot of beautiful rides to look at. Don't know if we will go again this year. If you haven't been, I recommend it.

Question about the Ventura show. Will you be entering your cars in the show on Saturday?
It says its open to replicas.

i am not but i know they would love to have as many cars there as possible

Saturday has traditionally been the 'big day' at the Ventura Show, guys. (And, they are very Replica-friendly.) Saturday is the 'People's Choice' car show.
Sundays it's more about the Porsche swap meet, and there's a Porsche-only concours for the first time this year on Sunday.
I'll be there Saturday afternoon workin' in the PCA/SBR booth. Come by and say, "Hi!" Weather looks to be just about perfect...finally.

Bill, I went in 207. There were replicas displayed near the real 356s. The show is under a different promoter now, but I feel that they will take all comers, even low lifes like us! LOL Warren, I am not sure if I will be there Sun. I'll keep you posted as I know better my plans.

So John, if I were looking for a Porsche, (which I am not) Sunday would be the day to go? I just may go Saturday to check to see what you are up to. Are you taking the Teal Deal?

Warren - the Sunday Porsche Swap Meet is "pieces & parts," not cars. But, if you were looking for a Porsche, there are always many P-cars for sale at the show. There is a "For Sale Corral" inside one of the exhibit halls; it's full of available cars.
Come on by Saturday afternoon (12-3PM), I'll be at the Santa Barbara Region's "Goodie Store" booth, selling stuff (supposedly).
No, "The Teal Deal" will not be coming to Ventura this weekend. I'll be in the 911.

PEOPLE OF EARTH!!!!

Those interested in caravan this Saturday to German Auto Fest in Ventura...rendezvous with Will & MUSBJIM at the Topanga Inn on PCH in Malibu (junction of Topanga Canyon/PCH).

We will be at this location between 09:30-09:45am. Departing this location and cruising north on PCH through Malibu to Los Posas/101 and on to Ventura Showgrounds. We can then hook up with Warren White and John Leader at the show. Should be a fun day driving around in near perfect weather.

Good to see the SOC Crew in Ventura today. Sorry the show was such a "snoozer." Everybody was openly talking about how lame it was...not many cars...not much of a crowd.
Hell, the Porsche guys there were so quiet, they didn't even pitch a fit over the Replicas being parked "on the grass." After you guys split, half the crowd left. Must have been Vince's new nerf-bars.

Great day for a little drive with the SOC! We make our own car show where ever we go!

Saturday was the first time we attended the Ventura show. We walked around, looked at cars, talked to a few people and then got a bit confused. The bulk of the show seemed to be the people who paid $12.00 a head to park their Porsches (and replicas) on the grass.

We scratched our heads and asked

Brian, sorry we missed you at the show. This year's show was a complete failure compared with the 2007 show that I attended. The number of cars actually on display was about 20% as compared to then. The parts and services displayed in the buildings was off by an even greater amount. But the SOC had a strong showing, a lot of laughs, and a great day of open top driving.

I don't think any of us were planning on entering our cars in this event. I think we just went through the wrong gate and since there weren't many Porsches there, they were glad to have us. It was fun as always as lots of folks look at our cars.

As you'all did, we had a good time and made a mini-weekend trip out of the show. Saturday weather was perfect for our top-down cruise (with lunch in Mailbu) back to OC.
