Gordon,

Nothing, for the money, really, I'm just teasing Vince.....
If you're gonna build an outlaw, this might be a good start. Let's face it, you won't see any replica coupes coming out for the next couple of years, so this is about the best you're apt to see...
Even though it's been hit in the front, it'll have to be painted anyway, so you can spend a few more bucks to have the body shop make it look like the new bits have been there all along, and THEN put another $5K into a decent paint job.
The interior, while serviceable, is, well, serviceable and would probably be re-upholstered anyway but the basics (seats, etc) are serviceable and can be re-used.
This would be a great candidate for a full VW drive-train: both Engine (a nice 2110 with all the goodies, incl external filter and cooler or a stout T-4) and a new tranny. Would have to decide whether to go with 356 disks or a new disk brake package.
too bad I already have too many winter projects (and a new house to furnish) or I might be tempted.

Ricardo,
Put it in my ebay to track when it hit the web.....
San Pedro is about 10 miles away, I could push it home.....
Gordon,
you must have been reading my mind.......

That's great Vince! I noticed that too when I checked the location. That's why I made the post. The car looks awesome; I hope you score it! Happy belated Veterans Day!

Here's one closer to home, for Gordon. Make a nice Winter project. One for a very LONG Winter . . .

Definitely TC! That looks like an impossible project. By the way did you notice the nice blue 914 in the background in one of the pictures? You were looking for one for your fiberglass project weren't you?
Geez Louise!
My dad's 1942 Ferguson Farm Tractor is in better shape than that thing!
Still runs great (he bought it new in '42) and he just got the snow plow back on for the Winter. (He's a tough New England Yankee - 86 years old and still plowing his own driveway!!)
You're right......it would take several LONG winters for that coupe......

Ricardo,
YES! I not only noticed it, I email him about selling it and evidently broke one of the Eleven Commandments ! ! ! !
I got an email from the Ebay Administration saying that it was in violation of their policy to permit off-auction sales and a terse email from the seller with the single word "NO!" in answer to my question.
YIKES! I just want to hit 'em both with a sharpened shovel!!

oh god no we can't have anyone making offers without using the auction!!!! But we can make an auction that has a defined break off time that everyone can see and therefor waits to bid until the last minute........of course then they don't get the car because its whoever last gets a bid in before the clock goes off or they don't make the reserve......I find some of Ebays rules very self serving and yet they charge you for just listing the car so whats it to them???????
I have 6 people who have already said they want my car but don't want to go through the auction.......what can I say yes to all 6??????

The San Pedro coupe is out for the time being...
I am flying to Sacramento on Saturday to pick up
my latest score, a 67 912 Porsche. Got it cheap
but can't say anything yet, cause I haven't seen
it in person or driven it yet...looks very clean
in pictures and the guy says the pic's don't do
it justice.....may have to sell the Ghia if I
really end up liking the 912.....will see......
No plans to sell the speedster in the near future
thats for sure, had to much fun on runs this last
summer......

Vince,
Have you found another job? Sounds like you did. Hope the 912 is all you are hoping for.

Bruce,
Found another job in Engineering, and I also Started a new business of my own..Slip proofing floors that are normally slippery when wet.
Perhaps I'll start a new thread "What do you do".....
I am a "car guy" I have purchased many cars over the years, I used to be a mopar freak with finned cars from the 50's, currently I seem to be looking more into the air cooled variety.....Always wanted a 356, so the speedster satisfies that craving, and when I see something that just looks like it would be fun, I jump in....(with both feet)....getting the 912 very cheap and it looks good....
It may or may not become my daily driver....will post pic's
next week....

Wow Vince; that must be a tough choice deciding between your Ghia and a 912 for a daily driver! I use my Speedster as often as I can and that includes running some errands on weekdays, etc. The thing is that it draws so much attention that sometimes it's not that practical especially when trying to prevent theft, etc. Add to that the infamous SUV's and "tub envious" Bimmer owners and you've got a full out war out on the streets, my God!!
Ricardo,
The wife has an almost new Jeep, so I have the luxury of driving
these old sporty cars, if you call it a luxury....I change cars
a lot, so no telling what i'll be driving a year from now.
one thing for sure is the speedster stays...at least for another
summer. Had too much fun in it this last summer.......
