Vince!!

I've got the perfect song for ya, especially if you like the Doors Alabama Song and, what the heck, you live practically in Mexico, right (and they're slowly taking it back...)? So why not a great Mexican bar song???????

Whenever I would make it out to LA or San Diego I would hit the Mexican bars with a friend from work, a guy named Ozzy who grew up in Puebla, Mexico. One of the groups that blew me away was "Los Super Seven". Freddy Fender used to be in that band, Lyle Lovett sat in occasionally and they had a front singer named Raul Malo - TERRIFIC voice, believe me.

On one of their albums - "Heard it on the X" (Remember all those great "X" stations from Mexico in the 60's and 70's??) - they did a tune called "The El Burro Song" and it was one of the few that they did in English. It tells the story of a guy in a bar whose "Love has fallen and she can't get up...her heart like a radio with the sound turned down."

Maybe Desi can find it for your party. It's not on itunes, but maybe Amazon has it - it's worth it for Raul's voice, but the Mariachi background is worth it, too!

See ya!

Ouch....Well that was fun...First a big thank you to Desi and Rebecca for their great expertise with the music and also for NOT playing most of the tunes recommended in this thread...
I would hope everyone who attended had a good time...
and thanks to everyone who ventured out.....

I combined personal friends from the past, with some co-workers and of course the SOC from So. Cal.

I understand Ginny now has a little stuffed dog with the name of her first dog in beads, presented by the illusionist who was working the tables...he is very good.......

Teri put a camera on all the tables, so when we get them developed
i will post.....

I do Know that Gerd & Carol, Mr. Bill and Nancy made it through the evening, because I had breakfast with them this morning...making it home may be another story...

I plan to have just an SOC pool party before the end of summer, so stay tuned....
Vince.
Jen and I had a great time! Tunes, food, booze, pool,Awesome Illusionist (can't wait to hear what happens to Gerd when trying to spend his $100 bill he got back from the illusionist.... you don't get too much time in jail for counterfeiting. Do you?) and of course ALL of the great people!
Thanks again to you and Teri for hosting and next time for the pool party Jen and i will get a room and board the pooches so we can stay up with you all and have breakfast n the morning! (You're cooking right?)
Blake
We made it home ok, thanks for all who were concerned, there was this big nail in my right rear tire, didn't want to get stuck in the Long Beach ghetto part of town (scary!!!)

We had a very nice time mixing for Mr Vince & Terry ( BTW very beauuuuuitiful house) so cool to party with the SOCers.

If your in town the - usopenofsurfing.com starts 7-31-2010 this is one of my favorite weeks of entertainment, we live 2.5 miles away if anyones around Becky and I will be headed down alot, and if we are blessed we may see some incredible surfing.
