Vintage bumper spacig

Have to take my front bumper off to have the left front body repaired.
The bumper is already slightly torqued so it does me no good to measure distance from body points to bumper as it is.

Anybody know if there is a prescribed distance for the space between the bumper and the body

About 3/4 of a inch. Note your ends spacings on the front and rear corners as you center them up on the car and try to match that on the front and rear bumpers.

I wasnt happy with mine at all. So i fiberglassed them some extra and scribed them to a perfect match of the body, just on the top sides.

Made a much nicer job of it..

Anybody crawling under my car to see the bottoms may get a vicegripped toe. if they say something

Thanks Barry. I looked in your file. Great looking conversion to a D. I can see how close those are compared to both my front and back bumpers.

I think I'll snug them both up close. Looks more finished that way.

I would not go closer than 3/8s of a inch, They do move around some when you hit a good bump in the road. that could chip the paint.

But I did fill in the front top on mine to follow the nose shape it also gave me a nice place to mount some small fog lamps
