I'm working with Henry at intermeccanica.com to get new carpets for my CMC. Both are 'pan based' speedsters. Henry said their templates should work.
Henry quoted having both black, tan, and charcoal.
Hope this helps,
Ted
I guess Henry would still have all the templates for their old pan based cars.
Glad you were able to get a set.
And the price for a set for a CMC would be ??????

That's between you and Henry.
I say that because it's dependent on what you want. There are several different options of fabric/materials/backing, etc.
Reach out to Henry and chat him up. The carpet from Vintage will also fit a CMC.
Best,
Ted
I should have noted earlier that Henry said the patterns from their EARLY pan based cars should fit. My bad for not being more clear.
Once I nail down a price for what I want, I can share what I decided on and what I paid.
Thanks
Ted
The carpets from VS wear quickly in my opinion.
Henry's carpets are super high quality automotive stuff ---best I've ever seen. He let me go through his sample book at Carlisle and I was super impressed. I'll sure try to source from Henry if I re carpet my vs. I never knew that Henry's carpet would fit a pan based Speedster either--I was "just looking" and didn't ask him about that.
Best I ever saw though.
Jack
Were you looking at the German Squareweave wool, which will wear forever, and looks fantastic?
He also has less expensive materials.
Here is what I wrote down after speaking with Henry:
** (for pan based cars) **
Cut pile = $525.00 (Charcoal/Tan/Black)
Square weave = $990.00 (Large range of colors)
Underlayment = $150.00
Trunk liner (4 pieces) = $115.00
All prices will be plus shipping. I'm not sure if the prices are USD or CDN. (Kind of a critical thing to figure out. )
** Newer cars use a different pattern and your prices may vary. Also, Henry has not 100% confirmed these patterns are an exact match. He's going off of the supposition that CMC purchased the early IM designs. I'm going into this with eyes wide open, knowing that it's uncharted waters. If there are inconsistencies with the fit that's something I'm going to have to workout. Keep this in mind if you head down this path.
What I've understood is that that wool carpet is a bear when it gets wet. I've been told it shrinks and stinks. I'm not sure if the squareweave is wool or if it's also acrylic. Robert is sending me a few samples.
Hope this helps,
Ted
FYI, when I replaced my carpet with a set from Vintage Speedsters the cost was $678.00. That was March, 2010 so it could be even more today! This makes the IM carpet a wonderful bargain. Also I don't know if what you were quoted was for the really magnificent stuff Henry showed me.
I have lept my "new" carpet looking like new through using clear plastic coverings at the front and sides for daikly use and remove the coverings only to show the car.
The VS material looks just barely ok and at $678 was pretty steep. I would have purchased carper from Lowes but the VS stuff was cut to size and bound---same as the IM product likely is supplied too.
As far as being "a real bear" when it gets wet--mine doesn't get wet since John Steele showed me the secrets to stopping the water from entering the floor areas.
I'll add that removing and replacing my original carpet was a satisfying project. Easy to do and let me paint the bare pan with a great truck bed liner for waterproofing plus install Dynamat everywhere including the insides of the doors.
Bob--I'm not certain exactly which carpet I looked at with Henry at Carlisle. He had 4-5 sample books and I flipped through them all. Some were breathtaking. I wish I'd gotten a set from him and still may someday, especially since I've learned he has pan based patterns.

4 or 5 sample books? That's the more expensive square weave carpet. The cut pile only comes in three colors; Black, Tan, Charcoal. Henry said he almost forgot that he had cut pile in black. Because he never suggests black carpets for his cars.
I'm looking forward to receiving my samples. I will let you know what I find out.
Ted
Yes, that's what it sounds like. Henry has a good variety of square weave carpets at his disposal, and his upholsterer does a great job.
I'll probably be looking at those samples soon myself
Ted---tell us what you think about the square weave. Also tell us what it's made of if you can find out---wool or what?
Right now my car looks better than the day I got it with 700 miles on it 7 years ago. These cars are so easy to keep liooking fresh too. My future projects will be a new top and new windows in a couple of years. My plexi windows need agoing over with scratch remover which may extend the life. Also, I wouldn't mind upgrading the dash from the strandard VS style to a more authentic look like Beck and the others supply i their cars. I wonder if any SOC member has ever done such an upgrade?
