Deja Vu...I think I answered this post before. Vintage Speedsters have a Vintage Speedster badge in the front hood handle/ornament unless it's been swapped for a Porsche one. If buying new bear in mind that it's better to do away with the middleman and deal with VS directly; you'll save a few bucks.
Steven, you can also tell by the door panels that Kirk installs.. but Ricardo mentioned the easyest way.. the hood emblem should look like the porsche, but have a V/S on it instead...

If I were you, I'd call Kirk directly unless you have your mind set on the one you saw at the dealership... You could save some major bucks or even upgrade your VS order...

Either way welcome to the family.. Your gonna be one sick Son of a Bi#$% after you get your car... Life will NEVER be the same.. Thank GOD!

Steven, welcome to the club. Check your sanity at the door from here on out!
Congratulations on the purchase!

Jim, if your neck suddenly turned red, I'd suggest having it looked at. I thought you had that whole too-cool-for-school built-in tan thing going on.
Mine's a bit blue at the moment. It gets cold here.
Looks like nice car from the pictures (strange interior color combo - is it light grey?) For that money there isn't much info filled out in the ad - other than "Freeway Flyer Transmission". You'd think there would be some info provided on the engine - but no picture or even mention of it. Must all be covered under the " ... and much, much more" I like correct interior --- and it has cut down 914 seats - guess they mean the gauges?
This car is definitely en earlier VS to me; note the badge. Also the steering wheel is not a Nardi; I've seen earlier VS's built with other style steering wheels and this one looks like one of those. Another explanation would be a home built VS kit since the carpet doesn't look like what VS does in their shop.

Wolf; I think they refer to 914 seats in which they remove the head rest and they end up looking close to Speedster style seats.
Yelp it has the same door strikers as mine. but the heater vents are up higher.
The seats are the same as the ones I sold straight out, I got them in the car and I hated them from day one.

I do like the color and interior. but its has newer trim than my 2000 kit came with. The door pannels are better than what came with my car. and the carpet kit is better. If I had to guess, maybe 2002 or 2004 kit.

If it is a JPS take a close look at the driver side front wheel well just in front of the door. If it is dog eared out at the bottom its a Vintage. That a mold flaw that JPS corrected and the rear wheel wells will both have the same clearance between the tire and wheel well. on a JPS.
The driver side rear is real close on my car.

If the engine is as strong as the car is pretty. YOU BETTER BUY IT.

Barry,

Off this topic a little bit, but I have a question for you regarding registering a Speedy in NC. Could you please email me at Propnose@Yahoo.com. I am in the process of purchasing Trent Eubanks CMC, and was wanting to get some insight from a fellow Carolinian to the ins & outs of NC DMV!

Thanks,

Mark

Thanks Jim and all for the help and kind words!
Needless to say, I am exstatic about getting the Speedster. I should have it in my garage in about a week and a half. After calling numerous insurance companies this morning, I finally jsut called my normal ins. co.(USAA) and they said that they can insure a 2005 custom built vehicle, but in NC, they can only provide liability coverage. That is enough to get it registered here anyway and I will keep working on getting someone to provide full coverage in the meantime. As far as registration goes... we will see how that goes when the car arrives.
