Vintage License Plate?

Does any one know in California if you can recycle old yellow Cal plates that have been out of circulation!

There is an outfit in Florida (!!?) that will make you a bona-fide CA plate replacement, as replacement plates are not provided by CA. I can find the web site, maybe. Their offerings may include the very old style plate. Might be you could get your current plate number renderd w/ the old style look? I'm just guessing. Want more info??

This guy can make you an exact duplicate, though he has disclaimers otherwise. Ship it to a friend or relative someplace other than California then they can forward to you. Another recent thread on this as well. I'd buy a set of beater plates off ebay or otherwise that are the year you want, then have this site duplicate them as brand new appearance. MUCH cheaper than restoring the old set. Another member suggested registering your car and paying for a vanity plate, then have a retro plate made by this guy with the same letters/numbers and use the retro plate. You can stick the real one one in the trunk just in case... Here you are:
