Just before my coupe was started, Greg had started one for a good friend of his. Coincidentally it was also Fashion Gray, though interior color is different. His friend, like me, was patient and told Greg it takes as long as it takes.

Well, it's finished and you oughta see it! Here's a LINK to the instgram post. Check out the little details. For those that can't see instagram here are a couple fotos I screenshot of it. There's lots more on the insta post.

You're not seeing things, that is a real Webasto sunroof!  Mine has the headliner in, so windows and interior are next. We solved the Suby intake interference issues, I'll explain that in a separate post, but I'm certain he'll never build a Suby coupe again.

In case you were wondering what kind of guy Greg is I've also included a link to a youtube video of him surprising his wife. He tracked down a bug she sold 18 years ago and regretted selling. That's pretty cool, and Greg isn't afraid of wearing silly hats, so that's another count in his favor.

If they get LI Rick's going too, I'd say that they are all caught up.

I had a nice conversation with Greg this week.  He wants to have Bruce's car up and running to make sure the suspension works as designed before building my car.  He is hoping that will happen within the next couple of months.

That video of Greg surprising his wife with her old Beetle is most excellent!

I was just looking at the 3 photos again and it caught my eye this time.  It's the hinges on the rear side windows. They're square an in the visual proximity of the round corners of the window.  I dosen't look right.  Easy fix though.  Round out the hinge corners.  Perhaps install hinges that are half circles !  Since they are prominantly   there, I would either highly polished them or flat black them

The entire car is a Masterpiece and very worthy of the wait !  The way things look there probably won't be another one like this one.  That's pretty cool ...........Bruce

I'd prefer hidden hinges on the engine bay too but that's nitpicky and there's far more to like than not.

Those style hinges were used on the 911R and other specials. They allow the lid to open fully resting on the rear glass.

Kind of an Outlaw standard, along with the louvers in the deck lid.

All the better to work in the engine bay, my dear.

The side window hinges don't bother me one whit. The car is outstanding.

I'd put a remote/hidden radio somewhere and leave it plain on the dash. Or possibly a removable cover hiding a modern radio.

The rear windows aren't standard glass windows with frames. They're lexan, frameless, and I'm guessing they weight nothing. There a ton of outlaw details on that build.

A radio would be nice, but or comparison the ashtray is real and worth just above $800. Those radios go for thousands if you can find one. I kinda like the grill. I'm planning on siliconing a magnet behind the speaker cut-out and popping my cell phone in there for sat-nav and tunes on those occasions my wife is with me.

I appreciate the attempt at authenticity; just not the look in practicality.

Different strokes and all that.

I agree Bruce, the hinges need the corners rounded. That's kinda my thing when I see the sharp squared off look. And it is an easy fix and would look better IMO. The rest of the car is killer. A one off for sure.
