Has anyone installed the upgrade kit for the Vintage Speed shifter it’s about a 100 bucks and quite extensive. I hear it’s a vast improvement to an already great shifter. Cheers.

I bought a 10.5" shifter from Vintage in Taiwan last month. Would it have this upgrade? It is super tight and close. I love it. It has the Porsche plastic cover over the end of the shifter ball. Not sure this is what you are talking about. I replaced the VW stock shifter on the Puma. What a big difference.
That sounds like it, the upgrade includes a number of parts including the “Porsche like”
teflon cup.
Sounds like something I would like, can you post a link to the upgraded shifter you’re talking about?
It’s on the Vintage Speed store site
I read that the P like teflon ball is the upgraded part... just saying.
If you look at the video at the Vintage Speed site the upgrade is more than a bushing for close to 100 bucks.
@R Thorpe i watched the videos....and attempted to purchase the kit....but, i had a early model shifter that was not compatible to the upgrade....i bought the bushing alone (which was $14)...., and sold it along with the bushing to one of the guys here who had the means to machine the older shifter to accept the bushing upgrade which i chose not to attempt....as i said,....purchasing this newer model is well worth the $$$
So....
One would need to buy the Shifter Kit and the Upgrade Kit ?
No,, just buy the NEW SHIFTER and specify the P option.
@thedak perhaps i should clarify...i bought an early model shifter..it was fine , just had the slight vibration & shake...that was a common issue with this shifter...the upgrade kit comes with a entire new ball shaft with the PORSCHE bushing already attached that was not compatible with the early shifters...ergo i bought the bushing itself and found it took a machinist to adapt it...which was way beyond my pay grade....so i sold my shifter along with the bushing to a person that had access to a qualified machinist and simply bought a entire new model shifter with the PORSCHE bushing upgrade....so to answer your question....the part number of the oldermodel shifter will determine if the upgrade kit will be just a nut and bolt project to an existing shifter...i hope this explanation helps
I think.... lol
