After years of readings at least 25 per cent off, the Vintage speedo that came with my CMC has finally crapped out. I know they're junk, but I'm not in the mood to replace all the gauges. Does anybody fix these things? Thanks, Speedster gurus.
I doubt anyone would fix the CMC supplied gauges (believe they were made by Teledyne or Johnson controls overseas) - best bet would be to find another one - even if its reading is off. It looks like trying to take one apart would destroy it - unlike VDO gauges.
I occasionally see them here, ebay and SAMBA. Post a WTB add. Or sell your there and get some VDO 914 gauges.
I thought I needed mine done but it was the cable breaking down. The guy at Tulsa Speedometers gave me a quick lesson. He said if mine went out, it would be $150 to rebuild it. New cable was all I needed in the end. Knowledgeable guy.
Just to clarify - I think these are the CMC sourced VINTAGE gauges (they had other color faces and bezels). These are actually still available on SAMBA for $85 - so cheap fix.
