I am forced to sell my virtually new Vintage Speedster. It has approx. 500 testing miles (mostly Weber jetting). It has all the right stuff: disc front brakes, 3.88 ring and pinion, adjustable front and rear suspension, camber compensator, KFY gas shocks, Optima battery and Michelin-X tires. The engine is all new: 1776 cc, AS41 case, dual relief, full flow oil, counterweighted crank, forged pistons, light/8 dowel flywheel, dual-port head, large (40,35.5)valves,Engle 110 cam, 1700 # diaphragm clutch, aux. oil sump, remote oil filter, "doghouse" oil cooler, powder-coated tin, welded/balanced fan, dual Weber 44 IDF's, oil temp/oil pres/cyl head guages, Monza exhaust.
Runs like a train, sorted and dependable. The chokes had to be removed for clearance so it is a little rough until warm. It has a medium street cam and doesn't like to idle for long. The only real issue is that a VW swing axle was never meant to handle the power that this engine puts out. The rear can start to come out if the accelerator is vigorously applied in a turn (like old Porsches).
I tried to upload pictures but the program said: "too large." If anyone is interested, send me an e-mail address and I will send you some. Color is Guard's Red, tan interior, black top. It is registered in WA as a 1967 VW. Price is $22,000.
Thanks,
Buzz Barnett
