Greetings, I would like to introduce myself, I'm Scott and I live in Big Bear California. I Met aircooled at swapmeet and he gave me this info. Had trouble signing up but guess I'm good now. I'm 3/4 of the way through my build, (wish I knew of you sooner!),  and have a few questions which I will post as I figure out the website. Excited to be here! If I have questions should I post here or start a new thread under the appropriate heading. Thanks in advance, Scott

Welcome to the Madness, Scott! Ask away! We'll help you with anything we can. Al

Pics? And if you don't know- being somewhat computer challenged, I've found that by putting pics in the Pictures file in my computer first makes it easy to post them in your threads. So now that we've got that out of the way, let's see some of this car...

Totally agree.  That is one very nice Speedster in the works.

There is a BOATLOAD of info already on here.  The search function is the magnifying glass icon in the black bar at the top of the page - choose "advanced Search" and Rave On.  Put in what you're looking for and maybe we've already answered it for someone else.  If not, Ask Away!

How did you get that plate? CA will only allow vintage plates on YOM vehicles.

i believe CA has really loosened up on the old time different colored plates...seeing alot of them here in Sacto. area.

The DMV hasn't loosened anything up. Most people running the yellow background with black letters on replicas are doing so illegally. You can order a black over yellow plate on the internet and it looks legit; right up until the time the cop runs the plate for registration. The car has to be titled from 1956-1962 in order to qualify for YOM plates. So if you have a vehicle reg'd as a 1960 you can get a black over yellow plate if the plate has a 1960 sticker affixed to the plate and you have two plates in serviceable condition. 1963-1969 vehicles can get an original yellow letter over black background plates if they have two in serviceable condition.

CA did however release the Legacy plate which is yellow letters on a black background and it can be put on any car. You'll notice it has a different configuration for the letters and numbers.
