Note that oil temps that are too cold are just as bad as those that are too hot. Ideally the engine should warm up quickly and maintain 180 to 190 F; up to 215 F is acceptable under heavier loads on hot summer days.

You should re-route the pretty red alternator 12V+ wire - sooner or later the insulation will abrade through on the carb linkage and then BZZZZZAAAP - there goes your electrics (the linkage is grounded through the engine).

I've decided to sell my Vintage Speedster. Following are the details of my car:

The car was a turn-key car built by Vintage Speedsters for Mike Dillon (who lives in southern California) at a cost of approx. $27,000 (have his receipt and all service records since new). I bought the car from Mike, and am the second owner. Except for a few tiny rock chips, the car is like new. It has been completely dialed in by my Porsche mechanic, who was factory trained by Porsche Cars North America and who was formerly a mechanic on the Brumos Porsche racing team. It runs perfectly. In fact, Wicky (my mechanic) tells me it runs as well as a fuel injected car now. (I'd be glad to furnish Wicky's phone # to any serious buyer. He can attest to its condition, both mechanical and cosmetic).

Here's the specifics:

-The color is Auratium Green, which is an original special order Speedster color from the '50's. It has tan full leather interior and a tan canvas top. Very vintage look.

-The engine is a CB Performance built 2180cc engine with dual 44mm Webers.

-The car also has an external oil cooler, and it never overheats.

-It has 4 wheel disc brakes, the Vintage special exhaust and 3.88 gears.

-3800 miles

-In addition, the car comes with the following: upgraded Dunlop radials, a full tonneau cover, Nardi steering wheel and shift knob, the trunk carpet kit, spare tire, bumper guards, bra, car cover, Porsche crest hubcaps and baby moon hubcaps, tan coco mats, and a custom set of Lloyd's mats with "Speedster" embossed in green to match the exterior color.

-Eight pictures can be seen on this site by clicking on "Files", then clicking on "Members", and then scrolling down to "Mike Dillon's Auratium Green VS" and clicking there.

-Let me know if you've got an interest. You may contact me at viperbrad@comcast.net or may call me at 615-269-7208. I live in Nashville, Tennessee.
