For the rear, use torsion bar plate area or where the "frame wishbone" comes together. 

For the front, use the center of the front beam or under the frame head.

Use a block of wood on top of the jack saddle to avoid damaging jack points.

Be safe.  Never get under a car supported solely by a jack.  Use jackstands!

I've also had good luck using ramps (with chocks for the end remaining on the ground) for stuff where I don't need to take a wheel off.
