I have a chance to build a one-off 904 with racecarreplicas. I bought this car instead of building one knowing that Fran Hall would eventually build a 904. Fran is ready to go (about a year before I expected).

While I am not quite done enjoying this car, my wife won't let me have 4 toys (currently BMW 645, 2005 Boxster S with 3.8 X51 and the 550).

So with regret, I am putting the 550 up for sale. I bought this one in March of last year. I made the following changes:

removed the gumball numbers;
added a removable roll bar;
Had the car dyno-tuned to improve cold start;
added some frame stiffening in the engine compartment;
added a muffler.

It is a 2004 Vintage Spyder.

Here are the specs.

For anyone following this car, I almost bought it, but opted for a new build with a 2.5 non-turboed engine. Michael's car is very nicely appointed, and with the water-cooled Suby engine, you just need to turn the key and go. No carbs to tune, no valve adjustments to fiddle with and reliability that takes away the worry from taking longish trips.

I don't know the owner here, but merely speak from experience with my own Subaru-powered Vintage-built car. I owned an air-cooled Beck previously, and can honestly say, I would buy this Suby in a heartbeat. Good luck in your sale, Michael. BTW, his asking price is a bargain, considering all the work/mods that have gone into the car.
