Visit to Sandy Eggo

I have another bid'ness trip to Sandy Eggo the last week of August. I'd love to get together with some of y'all left-coasters if you have the time.

I would love to meet with you Lane, but I am a little too far up the left coast. Like half way between SFO and LAX. Have fun! How did the surgery turn out?

Gerd - Dates of travel not yet nailed down, but the meeting is the 26th and 27th (or 27th and 28th) - probably the former with the 25th and 28th as travel days. What's this you said about "sold the coupe" in another thread?

Lane - I'll be able to catch up with you in Sandy Eggo (I'm ready for another good Mexican dinner). Post details as your trip draws near and I'm sure a couple other SOC'ers will chime in.

I've confirmed that the meeting is the 26th and 27th, so I'm expecting travel to be the 25th (Tuesday) and 28th (Friday). That give me three night to choose from for SOC debauchery. Since I'm likely to be tired Tuesday, howzabout Wednesday or Thursday? What works best for y'all?

So we meet at Lane's hotel Thursday afternoon. When? I can get off pretty early Thursday so we could go hang at the boardwalk in PB, cruise Logan Heights, Imperial Beach or something.

The "when" will depend somewhat on when I get away from MITRE. It's not too far from the hotel, but my brief isn't until the afternoon, and I expect a few questions. Heck, as controversial as my subject is in the program, I might get lynched by some of the vendors. The really don't like the customer (DoD) telling them what they want.

I'm an engineer, not a diplomat. These guys have too much money at stake to back down easily. They have to be educated that the business model (at least in this area) has undergone a paradigm shift. To say that they are resisting it is an understatement. Some of the big companies are pretty sleazy. Eisenhower was right about the military-industrial complex.

Ok, my brief is scheduled to start at 3:50 on Thursday and run for 40 minutes. I doubt that I can finish, get back to the hotel, and change before 6:00. Is that ok with you guys or should we consider changing to Tuesday or Wednesday?
