Robert and Scot,

Can't wait to see your cars. Robert, did you buy that Red Speedster that was pictured with the blue one on this forum? That was a nice looking car. Congrats!

Scot,

Am anxious to hear what all you ordered! May go that route someday too. Congrats, I am sure you are excited!

Jim: Yes, I bought the red one that was advertised in the Classifieds under '1999 IM for sale'. The car pictured beside mine is actually dark red, and belongs to Ron Leonard of Vancouver. It's interesting that I had looked at the car Ron bought, and vice versa, and that Ron (who lives in B.C.) bought a car from Ontario, and I did the opposite.

I had been in touch with Henry a long time ago about this car, and it was still available when I recently made the decision/plunge to get a Roadster. After years of restoring and driving old British sports cars (Bugeye, TD, TR3, MGB, TR6), I just wanted something still 'retro' but with new mechanicals, etc. and a 356 replica provides that.

I was happy with my 1978 Speedster, but wanted more of a daily driver for our climate. Being in Canada, I could not buy a new JPS or Vintage. Plus, my wife likes roll up windows and better visibility (I tried to talk her out of the Roadster, honestly). As George has stated in explaining why he is spending so much on a new Speedster, at our ages the 'endless summers' are getting fewer.

Now to finish paying for it. Looking at those shots that Ron Leonard posted, I also have to lose weight. Should help the car go faster.

Ron: The car was shipped last Thursday (although I don't know that for sure, as my email has been down since Thursday's power blackout here in Ontario and Eastern U.S.)

Henry says it should take 7-10 days for it to arrive, so maybe later this week or on the weekend. I am trying to contact the company for details, but a lot of businesses in S. Ontario are working at less than full capacity today due to the power shortages. Hopefully, things might get back to normal tomorrow.

Bob
Thanks, guys.

If I can figure out how to post pictures to this site, I'll put some up. Henry took some very nice shots of the car when we were discussing my potential purchase (and afterwards, too). With only 3,000 miles on it, it's in not bad shape.

Thanks to Ron Leonard there are now some shots of my car, under 1999 IM D Roadster.

Scott,

Are you the guy that came up from Florida to visit IM? I am the guy that talked to you with the dark blue Speedster D. Congrats on your purchase and I too plan on an early spring delivery when I place my order. Problem...dont even want to think of selling current car until the weather turns to crap.

You will not be disappointed with purchase
Ben
