Great to see you, Jerome. I hope the wife and your Speedster herd are good.

Jerome & Yvonne Bosch are the owners of Maui Roadsters. They have four speedsters that they rent out to folks who need a different kind of rental while on island. Very nice people who bought the original business from Larry and Christine a while back.
Jerome does most of the maintenance on the cars himself. We met in the parking lot of Safeway when he greeted me at my car and asked a number of questions about how I had done a few things. We see their cars periodically and the drivers always are grinning.

Of course! Thanks Mike
it rains (shortly) in Maui numerous times a day...the shower may feel good.
Randy, WRT to Bruce's (SOC Aircooled) comment about a custom license plate holder, here are some visual and resource references for his product...
...and can be found on Sierra Madre Collections website.

Jim, that is cool. I might have to get one of those. I’m hoping I won’t get a ticket, but it IS California and the cities need revenue. The last front plate ticket I got was in San Francisco and it was just a meter maid. 🙄
Jim.........Thanks for the promo ! Randy.........yes SMC has them for sale and so does Greg at VMC...............They really work. Recently I sold a set with one receiver and two inserts to guy who has two plates. One for show and one for the street...........Bruce
I wonder if I already have a set! I bought front license plate brackets from VMC, so I may very well have!!! I never even checked.
I also doubt that I will ever use the luggage rack or the moon shaped tonneau. Good to have though.
Get yourself a vintage-looking suitcase and a bunch of travel stickers from famous places and put that on your luggage rack. It'll look very cool.
I can recommend LaughingElephant if you're looking for vintage stickers - I got a set of 20 themed around European hotels of yesteryear, which look perfect on a real 50s Samsonite case!

Thanks for the advertising Mike! Sorry I'm not very active on this forum, I'll try more in the future!! :-) Now back to working on Hoku, the (currently) silver Speedster... Getting a new paint job and complete interior refurbishing. I'm taking care of the carpet and upholstery, and the whole reassembly of course. I should start a thread on that I guess...

I highly recommend that you apply decoupage over your labels if you ever plan to be out in foggy or even humid weather. It goes on white, but dries clear and I've used it on every one of the hundred or so suitcases I've done, EXCEPT the first one!
Troy..........what is decoupage ?............Bruce
It literally translates from French as cuttings
I thought decoupage is what you see at the top of a woman's dress.
I couldn't get hold of that here, sadly, so I used many spray coats of gloss varnish and hoped for the best!
Using decoupage glue would probably make it the most waterproof part of the whole car! haha
Décolleté. Low neck line . Nice try though
@DavidJapan how about dewaxed shellac?
I'll take a look, thanks!
Thanks Troy...... I was guessing that it was like a two part acrylic or polyester that is mixed and poured over something to give it a thick, protective coat........Bruce
Teammccalla.....De-waxed shellac will still "yellow' with time and U/V light from the sun. I wouldn't use it for this project.......Bruce
True, but I thought the yellowing would work here for a vintage look.
I have noticed that the Porsche wave or light flash has all but died out here in the Bay Area. People appreciate the black Carrera and say nice car, but it’s nothing like the mandatory flash that existed last century. Maybe it is just the dilution of newer 911s, Caymans, Boxsters and various SUVs and sedans. Porsche has sure done well as a company. They were almost gone in the early 90s, and VW must have made a fortune on its investment!
At any rate, I have been pleasantly surprised that so many people of all flavor of Porsche smile and wave. Not that many flashes. But it shows two things: first, everyone loves speedsters; second, even newer Porsche owners see the connection and heritage, and buy into it.
BYW, I did pass a couple 356s this month and they almost fell out of their cars with joy at seeing another (apparent) survivor.
Vintage Corvettes still pretend you aren’t even present, but such is life. And, there are still plenty of moms driving Taycans who have no idea what kind of car they are driving, but I love that the “old” Porsche brand still is alive and kicking.
@MusbJim @aircooled. Sho nuff, I have a set of the license plate holder you showed me. I hope I don’t have to use it, but I have it! Thanks, Bruce for making them available!
Well there ya go Teammccalla !...............Bruce
Perhaps next will be a set of my Wind Wings or Sun Visors or Folding Footrest......Bruce
