Got R Dun!

Amazing what you can do in almost no time with decent parts.

Airhead Parts and FedEx came through, the steering column bearing fit better than OJ's glove, the outer column sleeve is now insulated from chassis ground via some spiffy nylon bushings and washers I fab'd up (as it's supposed to be) and everything is acting egg-xactly like a 1969 Beetle sedan (yeah, I know....1969 seems to be a "special" year for a lot of reasons, including a unique horn circuit through the central shaft, it seems).

AND......The friggin horn works!  The way it's supposed to!!!!

Anyway, road test is done, final adjustment of the steering wheel position is done, all that's left now is to vacuum the interior and get ready for the Volksvair Show!

Oh....and take care of a couple of Wild Indian Grandsons tomorrow while we keep out of the way of an electrician installing 10 recessed LED lights in the kitchen so we can better see what's cookin.

Sounds like a good pool day and some biking around the 'hood - there's always sumthin goin on at the Speedstah guy's place.

East Coast Street Rodder Bruce!   You and Norma doing Louisville??  None of my Hot Rod Friends are around here, anymore - They're all heading west for next week.

Ooh, OOH!  Airhead also sent me one of their catalogs (I wondered why the hell the package was 4 times heavier than it should have been - now I know).  Lots of spiffy (more) stuff to buy!!!!

Whotta buncha liars those so-called "weather people" are...

It's about 9am and I'm sitting here on the porch watching a "soft rain" falling when they told me all last evening, "Oh!  All the precipitation will be off towards the 'Cape!".  Nuts to THAT!

Not that we don't desperately need the water, but Pearl sure isn't going out in this just to see an empty show field - even for the possibility of seeing TC there (he always shows up and ALWAYS cracks me up - I'm so straight and he's so, well.........TC!  I was going to talk him into seeing the medieval armory exhibit at the Worcester Art Museum, too.  They've got close to 100 of these:

And any kind of weather threat keeps the vendors (what few there are at this meet) away, so I won't be finding any nifty parts, either - and I was hoping to score a block of those composite valve cover gaskets that nobody seems to like but me, too!  I may swing by around 10 in "Kelvinator" (my DD) just to see if anyone shows up.

Guess it'll be a day of indoor sports and patching a small hole in the kitchen ceiling after the "Let there be (lotsa) Lights!" party the other day.  It's amazing how bright a kitchen can become when you install a dozen LED recessed units in a 12' X 18' space......VERY glad I put them on dimmers!!

Well, it wasn't a terrible day but the weather dropped the attendance for sure.  Drizzled early then stopped, but threatening all day.  Typically close to 100 VW's of some sort make the show, but only 34 cars registered this year, no Speedsters or Spyders.

I didnt see TC either, not sure if he made it?  Several vendors made it, no great finds that I noticed?

As Red Sox fans say around here, there's always next year!
