Got R Dun!
Amazing what you can do in almost no time with decent parts.
Airhead Parts and FedEx came through, the steering column bearing fit better than OJ's glove, the outer column sleeve is now insulated from chassis ground via some spiffy nylon bushings and washers I fab'd up (as it's supposed to be) and everything is acting egg-xactly like a 1969 Beetle sedan (yeah, I know....1969 seems to be a "special" year for a lot of reasons, including a unique horn circuit through the central shaft, it seems).
AND......The friggin horn works! The way it's supposed to!!!!
Anyway, road test is done, final adjustment of the steering wheel position is done, all that's left now is to vacuum the interior and get ready for the Volksvair Show!
Oh....and take care of a couple of Wild Indian Grandsons tomorrow while we keep out of the way of an electrician installing 10 recessed LED lights in the kitchen so we can better see what's cookin.
Sounds like a good pool day and some biking around the 'hood - there's always sumthin goin on at the Speedstah guy's place.
East Coast Street Rodder Bruce! You and Norma doing Louisville?? None of my Hot Rod Friends are around here, anymore - They're all heading west for next week.
Ooh, OOH! Airhead also sent me one of their catalogs (I wondered why the hell the package was 4 times heavier than it should have been - now I know). Lots of spiffy (more) stuff to buy!!!!
