Hi, everyone!
Just got this in the mail for this year's "VolksFair" at Hebert's Candy Mansion in Shrewsbury, Mass, the 18'th show they've had:
This has always been a nice, although smaller show, with VW's of all types - Sedans, Buses, Dune Buggies, drag cars and exotic kits cars, and this year a special Type 3 class for all those squarebacks and notchbacks. They usually get 100-150 cars there.
Let's see how many of the New England crowd I can get there. Typically, between the SOC and my local 356 club, I tend to get 5-6 cars there but we've gotten a few more cars around here in the past year so maybe this year we'll get a few more. I ALWAYS see a 356 replica there that I have never seen before and is not on the SOC, so this year should be the same.
There is ample (some shaded) lawn parking, although food is limited to Italian Sausage, burgers and dogs (unless they entice a food truck to show up) and, of course, Ice Cream and candy from the Candy Mansion. With my diet, I just bring along a Subway sandwich (or Kathy drops one off).
It's a nice show. You park on the lawn. The people are nice (I know....Unusual for New England, right?) and it's a very relaxed show where you can choose to be judged or not (I have never won Bupka there, but it's a Bug show, after all). If you live within a couple hour drive you should try to make it! Just minutes from I-90, I-495 (Mass) and I-395, it is in the south end of Shrewsbury, just east of Worcester.
If we get enough people interested I might volunteer my place for a BBQ around 1:30p after we leave the show. My house is about ten minutes away down past the Mass Pike - BIG Weber, pool, all that stuff.
Any Interest?
