First be sure that all electrical items Off in the speedster disconnect the negative battery cable, then "tap" the cable end against the negative post, do you see a small spark or hear a light "snap"? If so you have something "on" aka an electrical draw of some kind draining the battery.

The measure voltage should be approx 12 + volts

Now, start the car and with the engine running, blip the throttle a few times, again at idle, measure the voltage at the battery terminal ends, it should now be approx 13.8 volts....
Turn on the high beams and again check the voltage, it should still be close or at the 13.8 volts. (13.8 volts is a good charging altenator)

Shut off the engine ,

Check the battery voltage again making sure all electrical items are Off on the car ...disconnect the cables and take a voltatge reading directly from the battery posts. If, it is higher with the cables off of the battery, you have a drain in the car's electrical system.

Wow, I am continually impressed by the knowledge and helpfulness of this group.

I've had my car three weeks and so far: New shift linkage cage, new muffler (old one fell off), battery dead, paint oxidized.
And oh yea the best of all the wheels:
Car came with gold Fuchs, not to my taste but OK
Also came with a set of chromies with half moon hub caps
So far so good, just have the tires moved...

Anyway to make a long story short the car originally had narrow 4 hubs which (rear drums, front disc) were redrilled to a narrow 5 to accomodate the Gold Fuchs.

Kinda strange huh?

I'll post a query about that as a stand-alone

Know what.......
I'm still jazzed
