Question to anyone that might know. Is the Voltage Regulator on a Vintage Speedster integrated in to the alternator or a separate unit?  If the latter, where is it located? I had my alternator tested at O'Reilly and they stated the regulator had failed.  It is weird because I have only had the car a year and just got it out of the shop for valves, idle jet adjustment, etc.  Then on the drive home I stopped, went in to a store and it wouldn't start when I came back out.  The battery was checked and it was rated as good.

I've yet to see a VS with an external regulator , all have a one wire (B+) alternator and a terminal 61 wire exciter.                                                                                                          You can test the alternator yourself: Key off,  with a volt meter one lead goes to B+ and the other to a ground meter should should read 12v.  Start car test again you should have about 13.8 volts. If not you'll need to  replace the  alternator.
