Hello

I have tried to ask directly to Vintagespeedster, but get no reply- so I try here.
On each side of my bumper, the rubber deco insert is about 1 inch too short to fill the total length. I have tried to put this rubber into warm water to try to get some more length- but without success.
I see they sell them for $10 each at Vintagespeedster- my question is if anyone of you know if they come a little to long so we can cut them to perfect length ourselves, or are they a standard length ?
Of course I can try you might say, but I'm located in Norway and the shipping will cost much more than the parts.....

Ove---I have the same situation--rubber pieces too short. That's on my list to correct some day ---please post your finding on here
for the rest of us!

Your post sounded like you were only interested in knowing the length---not ordering from Vintage so if you have your own source can't you just measure the length using the metal piece that holds the rubber strip?

If you do have a source can you also share that with us?

Good luck!
I replaced the bumper inserts a couple months ago with ones I ordered from VS because my eyes kept gravitating towards the shrunken inserts everytime I'd look at the car. VS was great to deal with and the new inserts came with nearly several inches of extra rubber so you could get an exact fit.

The old insert can be pulled out of the metal bumper decoration - they're held in by flanges running along each side of the insert. Just pull up one end of the old insert and you're good to go, although be careful you're not putting undue pressure on the metal deco. The inserts become more flexible the warmer they are, so warm them up first in the sun or hot water before trying to put the new ones in. I used my fingers and a credit card to push in the flanges of the insert as I went.

I'd say the hardest part is getting the length right. I didn't trust measuring and cutting away from the car so, using an end of the old insert as a guide, I trimmed one end of the new insert using scissors and a dremel tool grinding attachment, pushed the trimmed end into place along with a good bit of the rest of the new insert, and trimmed the second end of the insert while at the car.

BTW - Hi everyone. Thanks for all the help!
