Anybody ever got inside one of these VS 1915 ? Just bought a used VS w/1915 , and wondering what's inside . Is the crank stock or counterweighted ,4 or 8 dowelled ? Stock cam ? Stock heads ? Thanks in advance for any info . Jon
I did. Mine had a leaking valve at 15,000 miles and I had the entire engine rebuilt with new heads and crank. It is now a 2054cc.
It had a stock crank, 4 dowelled (I think), stock cam and stock heads. The case was a new case rather than an old reconditioned case.

No burnouts for this 1915
Jack, is your a single carb with stock exhaust? I'm going around in circles about how much power I want/need. If I do jump in I'm tempted to stick with the VS 1915 but with 2 Webers and perhaps an A-1 exhaust. I am just hoping to keep the initial cost down, but still be thrilled with a new toy.
steve, the 1915 will work well, its stock compression, so no big race motor. no cam, no high rev valve springs, so you dont want to run this thing over 4500 rpm. go with small carbs kadron are good or small webber, use the torque of the motor, dont over rev, and tri mill exh. stock heater exchangers. with a 388, you can cruise on the hwy, you not going to get away with much over 75 anyway. aND ABOUT 27 MPG.BUT PUT IN AN LARGER SUMP.bill
