VS do any electrical wires go down the center hump towards motor

maybe the large cable to starter?
got a whiff of electrical burn and swear i saw a puff of smoke wafting thru the carpeting on hump right about where my heel rests.

pretty much the whole wiring harness goes down there. All the rear lights, engine, starter, backup, charging, etc. If you saw a puff of white smoke - stop what you are doing, grab a fire extinguisher / test light and find the problem.

Pull the Battery cable and take out that part of the carpet and look for damaged wires. YOU GOT LUCKY that is as Im told is one of the most common vw hasards that lead to a fire ...That and old fuel hoses,,,
