VS fuel tank capacity? Anybody know?

My gage stays around full but then, takes a dramatic dive down to "R" after about 170 miles. How far can I go on reserve?

I think they are about 10 gallon tanks. So if you figure about 20 some odd miles per gallon you are probably getting close to the end at around 170 miles. I was told not to fill them past say 8 gallons to make sure that there is no spillage inside the front compartment. So I usually get less than 170 miles before I start to run low.

Also, not running your tank to empty helps keep the front end weighted somewhat, you should experience a little better handling.

All I know is that it's not enough; I don't know if it's because you're having fun but gas just seems to "evaporate" out of the tank....

Soon after I got mine home it had a gas leak at the bottom outlet......Kirk sent me a new connecter...whatever it's called...,I had to drain the gas tank.....After I replaced the connector I went to the gas station and got 2 1/2 gallons in a container....started it up and drove down to fill it up...it took another 8 1/2.....figure about 11 gallons....I figured I get about 22 mpg...so I start looking for a gas station before I hit 200 miles...reset odometer at every filling......untrustfull gas gage.

Well.... I found out last nite. When that needle says "R" it means empty! Ran dry about a half mile from the gas station.
Chalk it up to "getting to know my new car"...

CIP1 carries a 16 gallon tank with the filler fitting inside so no mod is required. It does however hit the hood support frame slightly on a VS. Jim Ward did a write up for the Knowledge tab (#201). Suspect you could also try shifting the tank slightly too.
