VS Horn

I didn't like the sound of the horn in my Speedster, it sounded more like a buzzer. I installed a set of Italian air trumpets, now when I toot the horn I really get recognition. Not only do I get recognition but people really like the sound of them. Bill Scott

Are those the red ones with the separate little compressor along side? I have a set that I've never tried or installed. I guess that I may put them on the "to do" list now. Is there much of a delay between the time that the botton is pushed and the compressor powers up the horns?

Well Bill; what came in my car is just a single Bosch or Hella unit. Is that what original 356's had? I asked that question some time ago since I'm trying to set up the car as accurate as possible but never got a definitive answer.

I can relate. I originally installed only one of the two stock Beetle horns and it always sounded wimpy. Then I heard Bill Drayer's air horns on a cruise a couple of years ago and had to have them. Installed a set for the Carlisle meet last year and now look for reasons to use them! Got a great buy on ebay and installation was easy.

If you chase down 'restored' Bosche, etc on some certain big name auction sites, make certain to ask the seller, " Does it HONK?"
Again, I have let my wallet go some places my brain never caught up with.

I have a beautiful chrome unit that now adorns my mailbox. I have another that was too badly corroded inside to be rebuilt, but it sure looked good in the picture!

I have a dual tone Porsche horn activated by the horn button in the steering wheel and a an old VW bus button mounted down underneath on my steering column that activates my SUV-penetrating air horns...
Now if I could just find a laser-electronics disabler, hood mounted with cell-phoneconversation-seeking...
