That flap allows you to access the shift linkage access hole.
The back wraps around the door post
I realize it wraps around the door posts but it still seems too long when I hold it in place, maybe it will fit when I actually glue it down but highly doubt it.
One of the CMC molds has the rear tub area a bit smaller than usual, I have had to split cut the VS large tub carpet up the middle and butt it ,Use a new sharp single edge blade and a straight edge as a guide.
There will be a slight line not that visible ( keep in mind that 99% of the time that area is covered by the top being up of a 1/4 boot cover in place.) best to cut the carpet on the back side with a new blade and straight edge to get a clean line.
I have yet to do this but you might try building out the tub area with a layer of tapered foam just before the door jamb this will take up a bit of your extra lap at the jamb .. you can dry fit with foam etc to see how much it takes up the extra. A couple of carpet pieces will need angle cuts to relieve tension so they will lay better, cutting a bit at a time is the trick~
I also remember cutting a piece out of the tub carpet on either side at the radius of the door jamb, that took some careful measuring - planning and also worked out. ~A
I had a simular issue, I used this sound/radiant barrier from home depot that took up the extra room:

I cut the pad short of the ouside edge of the carpet by 2 inches so you would see the pad when the carpet was clued in place.
Nice interior - changes look of car totally. Looks like you could also cut stiching on binding on either side, cut carpet there to correct size, and have a carpet/upholstery shop resew the binding back on.
