If anyone has a 2000 or so VS...could you tell me where the black, purple and orange wires coming out of the rear wiring harness go? None are switched, best as I can tell. The black wire tests out as entering the tach just to the left of the tach(as you're facing the tach) - it's combined with a brown wire at that connection. The orange wire enters the center of the tach. The purple wire begins in the engine compartment and is never heard from again. I can't find a purple wire anywhere else in the car.
I'm thinking the orange wire goes to the coil's negative post...and that's as far as I can figure anything out...if that's even a correct idea inofitself.
Unless I run a wire from the center post off the ignition switch directly to the positive post on the coil, I can't get the car to fire.
But if I knew where those damn black, purple and orange wires hook up in the engine compartment...mebbe I'd have something of a start.
Ideas?

Here you go, I know the VS harness by heart ~

Black goes to hot on the coil + pos. and is your ignition power.

Orange is your tach signal wire to coil neg. - to the tach.

Purple wire goes to the coil + pos. and is the power source for the back up lights....you'll also find another looped Purple wire that gets cut, the cut ends get attached to the back up light switch on the transmission.

Dennis,

Clutch adjustment? That would be the easy answer. How much free play do you have in your clutch pedal? Use your hand to depress your pedal and you should have about a 1/2" with no resistance. Even if it feels OK a turn or two on your clutch adj nut could do the trick.
If you haven't done it before there are some good clutch adjustment threads on the SOC and its really easy once you get the speedy up in the air SAFELY. I would take off the drivers side rear tire and use a safety jack. And prepare to get greasy forearms.
