VS?
Looks like JPS to me.
Sorry JPS is correct (his Speedster was a VS). Moved from PA to CA.
BHMotorcars has had many of it's 45+ speedsters for a very long time. I remember at least 5 cars on their site from back in December of 2013 when I started looking. In fact, I called and spoke with them in detail about the black speedster with the Fuchs wheels.
They seem to have cornered the market on used speedsters & Spyders. It would appear that they are trying to set the market price by hoarding any car they can find. Last time I checked, most of their cars were 5k over the average asking price for any other sales channel. Add to that, the guy I spoke with is pretty abrasive.
It's kind of a shame, because that JPS outlaw coupe deserves to be driven.
I'm so thankful Musbjim stuck it out and helped to wrangle my shwarz frauline out of Al's carport! Thanks JIM!!
Ted
This guy was buying up everything there for awhile. This was Chuck Martins car that he let go for about 28,000...
So, now it's worth $34,950?
Well, I'm not so sure it's hoarding, or cornering the market. Sounds more like capitalism to me.
proceed with caution and caveat emptor
I would tend to agree with you Jim, except for with capitalism you charge what the market will pay. He's about 5k north of that and his inventory isn't shrinking.
If nothing else, that's borderline hoarding.
Wish I'd hoarded a bunch of real 356's back 20-30 years ago!
This dark blue JPS coupe was always referred to as 'Maggie Martin's Coupe' and was the featured JPS display at Carlisle in '12 & '13...It was a traffic stopper!!
When you figure in the carrying costs for BHMC inventory, its surprising he is making money. Most dealers don't hold cars for years!
Perhaps some portion are on consignment. But yes, that's a lot of cash tied up in inventory. (And I am old enough to remember Calif's restrictive inventory tax.)

I actually asked them if any of the cars were on consignment. The person I spoke with was 'very clear' that they owned all of the cars they sell.
I have no justifiable reason to dislike them as a dealership. It's just something about the way they spoke to me, when I was inquiring about several of their cars that rubbed me the wrong way.
Ted;
If more people voted with their feet, as you suggest, the customers, that's us, would be better taken care of. I have followed your posts, and you understand this, in spades.
And of course they will say it's all dealer owned. I am not sure where this thing; deal went south. I'll I know is I would NEVER carry the inventory BHMW, has. But I don't have their "cash" position.
Perhaps we can let this dog lie, and see who gets this assume blue coupe, on our coast!
TRP: His phone manners sounds like a justifiable reason to me.
I expect he'll get more abrasive as he continues to not make money by overpricing the cars he's hoarding.
He'll either come down or he'll crash. And don't doubt it: to him, you guys here are the enemy. Pace Sy Syms, An educated consumer is this guy's worst nightmare.
I spoke with the owner, Carl, some time ago. He was very pleasant, had good knowledge, shared a lot of information and was neither pedantic, nor pressuring to make a sale. He spent a lot of time answering questions, and was very good (I thought) about explaining the pro's and con's of the different manufacturer's. In the end he won't set the market price. Market price is set by the buyer. He may impact the Souther Cal market somewhat, but these cars are available all over the country. One just has to look!
I do not think I spoke to Carl. I spoke to a guy who insisted their 12,500k CMC was worth 22k because of the authentic FUCHS and the two tone tail lights.
I guess in the end, he can do what he wants. After all, they are his cars! I just thought the black CMC would be a good start.
In the end, I'm more than satisfied with the one I got. I can honestly say, I've never had a single second of buyers remorse.
If they still have the black and red CMC with the FUCHS on December 15th, 2014 - I AM going to call him back and remind him that he could have sold it a year ago. Why? Because I'm a childish petty shell of a man.
